The sea breeze was so refreshing, so rejuvinating. It was almost as if an angel were blowing upon the two of them as they sat on the perfectly warm sand, observing the sun wave goodbye over the deep blue horizon. They had been sitting in this spot for about an hour, relating about there lives and past experiences. they had both been on a business trip, that was necessary for the company. Funny how things work out, the 2 of them growing up together, same school, same friends, now same job. Best friends is what they reffered each other, but more seemed to lurk under their own horizon."This is so beautiful." he said to her as he leaned back on the palms of his hands
"it really is..you dont see these scenes in the city..too many damn buildings." they both smirked as she said this. for some apparent reason, this evening seemed different then the one's they were accustomed too.
Their love lives were a mess. Just like every other average person, they had their ups and downs, their loves and crushes, but neither had ever found that "one."
she finally broke the silence, "how is it that the sun can be so far away and-"
"-and still be able to light up the best features of your face" he finished her sentence in an unexpected way. It had been a while since he had felt some type of way, never having the courage or even the certainty to say anything. He just went for it at the moment, wondering if it was the right thing to do. It deffinitely was too late to turn back now.
She suddenly stared at him for what seemed to be an eternity.
"thank you" she said silently after a while, and turned back to stare at the Flying gulls. He sensed some bewilderment in her words. As if "thank you" was not really what she was supposed to say.
"You always seem to understand me, to be able to listen and relate to all my problems...I dont know..its weird...you just..make me feel so special at times" she said out of nowhere. It surprised him, it sounded as though she was inviting him to continue on this path that he so yearned to walk.
"Its not hard to make you feel special. Its like me asking a diamond to shine...it just comes natural..all i do is try my hardest to make you smile, its always been like that since we were kids, and it will always be like that." He fought so hard to find the perfect words to say at this moment, for he was afraid one wrong thing can change the tide of the coversation just as one little pebble in the sand could change how the wave may look once hitting the beach.
"I wish all guys were more like you, I seem to always end up with the loosers."
"Not everyone knows you like i do, not Everyone will appreciate how good of a person you are."
He kept thinking to himself as to what he should say next, the perfect line, something smooth. Then he realized, they have been friends all this time for a reason, she obviously like something about them. He felt foolish for trying to think of nice things to say when all he had to do was be himself.
He turned to her and looked at her until she turned to look at him. The breeze stil continuing to caress both of their faces, giving their hair minds of their own. He started to feel so nervous, the staring seemed to be locked in place, frozen in time. Yet this is how he wanted it, he wanted this to never end. For this is what heaven must feel like........
"I......" he started
She looked at him puzzled, then smiled. The smile gave him warmth and actually helped build his courage.
"I........Love you" he said....
"hehe..I know I love you too." she said not quite understanding him..
"no....not li-........I LOVE you." He didnt even give her time to answer, something grabbed a hold of him and he went for it.
He leaned over slowly and placed his lips on hers, half expecting her to turn away. But she didnt, they made contact....and at this moment he realized that he finally found her. She had been right in front of him the whole time. and he finally found her. Her lips were soft and warm againts his, the gulls singing and the Chorus of the soft waves in sync with them. It really was heaven, he thought.
Ironically the sun completely concealed itself under the horizon at the same time their lips parted, bringing the night. As if as the day ended and the night began, so did their old relationship end and new one was born.
"I love you too, I always have." she said, grabbing his face.
"The stars never looked so brighter."
" huh? silly your not even looking at the sky." she giggled and whispered.
"sorry" he smiled "I can see them in your eyes."
